Christmas time arrives and while you are surfing on the internet, you can find a lot of funny things related to it. One of them is the Santa tracking program performed by the NORAD. If you follow the link, you can find more information about it.
Is an interesting thing though, that a system designed and developped to follow missiles and other "flying weapons", is used to track Rudolph's red nose. Maybe is a friendly way to show that this kind of devices are useful in a world where a nuclear war and the possibility to strike the USA is highly possible (at least for their political representatives); and use Santa's flight in Christmas Eve is a way to do it.
I don't know if Santa likes to know that is tracked by a system that is used to kill (ok, well, someone will say that the system prevents other countries to kill american people; but it is used to guide the american weapons against these countries too...). In fact, if we follow Santa's career during the last centuries, he's not the type of guy that will love war tracking systems at all...
In the other hand, we can find a nice activity that is performed by volunteers at the Canada's Post Service. When kids (and some others that have passed the "kid's" age), send their letters to Santa, the address that they use is based on the North Pole. Thousands of volunteers at Canada Post receive the letters and answer them in any language. Nice, eh? And, at the same time, is a fantastic way to demonstrate that the North Pole is a canadian territory!
And now the big question is: if Santa is a canadian citizen, why is he tracked by USA's satellites?
Does any of his reindeers have a "non trustworthy" past? Is he carrying other stuff than toys? Another good mistery to solve...
